Nia Long received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles, honouring her long career in film and television.
Actor Nia Long was presented with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles, in recognition of a screen career that has stretched across several decades.
Long is widely remembered for roles in films such as "Boyz n the Hood," "The Best Man" and "Big Momma's House." The ceremony drew family members, friends and fellow entertainers, who gathered to mark her contributions to the entertainment industry.
Ron Frierson, chief executive of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which administers the Walk of Fame on behalf of the City of Los Angeles, presented Long with a certificate on behalf of Councilman Hugo Sorter Martinez.
Speaking after the unveiling, Long said the occasion had left her both moved and thankful. "This is such an incredible day. Thank you all so much for being here. I'm just really touched and I'm emotional and I am happy and I just very grateful and thankful," she said.
She also credited her studio partners, thanking her "Lionsgate family" for its support, led by Adam Fogelson, and recalling that their association began years ago with "The Best Man." "I know that it is because of you that I'm standing here and that this amazing event is happening, so thank you," she said.
Long posed on the newly unveiled star and later lay beside it as the ceremony concluded.
