NIA Conducts Multi-State Raids in Operation Sindoor-Linked Cyber Terror Case
NIA raids five locations in connection with a cyber terrorism case linked to Operation Sindoor, seizing devices in a probe into DDoS attacks on government websites.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) carried out searches at five locations across five states on Monday as part of an ongoing probe into a cyber terrorism case registered in Gujarat. The action is linked to an alleged attempt to disrupt government websites during Operation Sindoor last year.
Searches were conducted in Junnar (Maharashtra), Nadiad (Gujarat), Ramagundam (Telangana), Gopalganj (Bihar), and Delhi. The case was registered on June 25, 2025, following a complaint by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), in which two accused have already been arrested.
According to the NIA, the accused had planned a sophisticated Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack targeting 54 websites of Government of India entities. Such an attack floods a server or network with excessive illegitimate traffic, rendering it unavailable to legitimate users. The intended targets included critical computer resources and critical information infrastructure, with the aim of compromising national sovereignty, security, and unity, and inciting public fear.
During the investigation, suspects who allegedly provided support and training to the arrested accused to upgrade their skills for carrying out DDoS attacks were identified through technical analysis. Following court-issued search warrants, the NIA examined these suspects and seized digital devices and documents containing incriminating material related to hacking activities. The seizures included three laptops, five mobile phones, and other digital storage devices such as pen drives.
