NLMC Board Clears Monetisation Proposals Worth Over ₹5,000 Crore

NLMC's board recommended surplus land and building assets worth over ₹5,000 crore for monetisation and approved its FY 2025–26 financial statements.

The Board of Directors of National Land Monetization Corporation Limited (NLMC) has recommended monetisation proposals covering surplus land and building assets valued at more than ₹5,000 crore, marking a significant expansion of the government's efforts to unlock value from underutilised public assets.

The recommendation came at the Corporation's 21st Board meeting, held on 18 September 2026, which reviewed the progress of the ongoing asset monetisation programme along with NLMC's financial performance and key institutional initiatives.

NLMC has been working with asset-owning entities to identify suitable surplus assets, carry out due diligence, facilitate valuation and structure appropriate monetisation processes, with an emphasis on transparency, efficiency and value realisation. The Board was briefed on the pace of this work across various asset-owning entities.

Discussions at the meeting centred on expediting the monetisation process, addressing implementation-related requirements and ensuring that identified assets move ahead through appropriate and transparent mechanisms. While appreciating the progress made, the Board stressed the need to sustain momentum and strengthen coordination with stakeholder entities so that surplus assets are monetised in a timely manner.

The Board also approved NLMC's Annual Financial Statements and Directors' Report for the financial year 2025–26, and reviewed initiatives aimed at strengthening the Corporation's institutional and operational capabilities and building a more structured framework for asset monetisation.

The scale of the proposals recommended reflects NLMC's growing role in the government's asset monetisation programme. By facilitating productive use of surplus land and building assets, the Corporation aims to unlock value from assets that might otherwise remain underutilised, while helping asset-owning entities pursue transparent and commercially appropriate monetisation opportunities.

NLMC reiterated its focus on efficient, transparent and value-oriented monetisation in line with the Government of India's broader asset monetisation objectives. It will continue to work with concerned Ministries, Departments, Central Public Sector Enterprises and other government entities on identifying and monetising surplus assets and supporting the effective use of public resources.

NLMC is a wholly owned Government of India company under the administrative control of the Department of Public Enterprises, Ministry of Finance. It was established to undertake and facilitate the monetisation of surplus land and building assets of CPSEs and other government entities.
