Northern Railway Reworks 120 Trains Across Delhi Division for Three Days

Northern Railway has drawn up an extensive train handling plan for the Delhi Division covering three days from September 11 to 13, 2026, with roughly 120 services set to be cancelled, diverted, short-originated, short-terminated, rescheduled, regulated or shifted to different terminal stations.

The changes, described by the zone as necessary for operational reasons, will touch a cross-section of traffic — from suburban EMU and MEMU rakes to premium long-distance trains. Among the prominent services listed for diversion are the New Delhi–Ranchi Rajdhani Express, the New Delhi–Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express, the New Delhi–Sealdah Rajdhani, the New Delhi–Howrah Rajdhani and the New Delhi–Bhubaneswar Rajdhani. The Mumbai-bound Tejas Rajdhani and the New Delhi–Rajendra Nagar Terminal Tejas Rajdhani Express also figure in the plan, as do the New Delhi–Howrah Poorva Express and the Sampoorna Kranti Express.

Several of these trains will be rerouted through Delhi Junction and Sahibabad, with some later services on September 12 taking a longer loop via Delhi Shahdara. The Dibrugarh–New Delhi Rajdhani, for instance, is to be diverted through Sahibabad, Delhi Shahdara and Delhi Junction. Other diverted services include the Gomti Express, the Shramjeevi Express, the Ghaziabad–Mathura EMU, the Rewari–Meerut Cantonment passenger and the Kurukshetra–Khajuraho Express, which will run via Adarsh Nagar Delhi, Delhi Safdarjung and Okhla.

A large block of suburban services has been marked for cancellation, particularly on September 12. These include Ghaziabad–New Delhi EMU trains, New Delhi–Ghaziabad services, the New Delhi–Palwal Ladies EMU and the Delhi Junction–Ghaziabad MEMU. In several cases, link trains have been adjusted — either short-originating from Ghaziabad or short-terminating there — to keep the remaining roster workable. Some Palwal–Shakurbasti EMU services were already cancelled under RLDA work at Faridabad.

Short-origination and short-termination measures will also apply to the Haryana Express, which will start from New Delhi instead of Tilak Bridge, and to the Tilak Bridge–Bulandshahr MEMU, which will begin from Delhi Shahdara. Its return service will terminate at Delhi Shahdara.

For passengers on long-distance routes, the plan carries a series of late starts. The New Delhi–Hyderabad and New Delhi–Chennai Grand Trunk Express will each be rescheduled by 120 minutes from New Delhi, while the Amritsar–Bandra Terminus Paschim Express will be rescheduled by 90 minutes from Amritsar. The New Delhi–Kasganj Intercity Express will leave 75 minutes late, and the New Delhi–Mumbai Central Tejas Rajdhani and the New Delhi–Rajendra Nagar Terminal Tejas Rajdhani Express will each start 50 minutes behind schedule. The New Delhi–Howrah Poorva Express will be delayed by 35 minutes, and the Ghaziabad–New Delhi EMU and New Delhi–Agra Cantt Intercity Express by 20 minutes each.

One Ghaziabad–Panipat MEMU will be regulated for 20 minutes at Sahibabad. The zone has advised travellers to check the updated schedule before setting out.
