NTA Withholds NEET-UG Result of Latur Coaching Owner's Son, Bars Him for Two Years
The NTA has withheld Aditya Motegaonkar's NEET-UG result and debarred him for two years in connection with the paper leak case involving his father.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has debarred Aditya Motegaonkar, son of Latur-based coaching centre owner Shivraj Motegaonkar, from appearing for the NEET-UG examination for two years. His result for the exam held earlier this year has been withheld, and he has been declared ineligible for NEET-UG 2027, according to an NTA communication dated September 19.
Shivraj Motegaonkar was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with this year's NEET-UG paper leak case and is currently in judicial custody.
According to the CBI, Shivraj Motegaonkar allegedly paid ₹5 lakh to P.V. Kulkarni, a member of the NTA panel that set the chemistry questions for the examination, to procure the questions in advance. His son attended Kulkarni's coaching classes, where the questions were allegedly provided.
After conducting a retest on June 21, the NTA put Aditya Motegaonkar's result on hold and sought his explanation regarding the alleged irregularities. In his response, he denied using any unfair means and contended that the notice issued to him pertained to alleged irregularities in the May 3 examination, questioning why his result in the subsequent retest had been withheld.
The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (Undergraduate), or NEET-UG, is conducted by the NTA for medical aspirants. The NTA cancelled the NEET-UG held on May 3 following allegations of a paper leak, and a re-examination was conducted on June 21.
Last month, the CBI submitted its final report before the designated fast-track court in Delhi dealing with criminal cases arising from paper leaks and the use of other unfair means in public examinations.
