Nvidia to invest up to $3 billion in Stargate data center developer Lancium

Nvidia will invest up to $3 billion in Lancium, the developer behind the Stargate data center campus in Texas, with an initial $2 billion for a 20% stake.

Nvidia is set to invest up to $3 billion in Lancium, the power infrastructure developer behind the Stargate data center campus in Texas, according to a report on Friday. The chipmaker will initially inject $2 billion for a roughly 20% stake in the company, which is backed by Blackstone. An additional $1 billion could follow if Lancium meets certain milestones, including grid connections.

The deal values Lancium and its portfolio of land and power assets at around $10 billion in enterprise value. The fresh capital is expected to help Lancium expand its operations as it considers a potential initial public offering in 2027.

Lancium owns the 1,000-acre Lancium Clean Campus in Abilene, Texas, which serves as the first operational site of the Stargate initiative. Stargate is a joint venture between SoftBank, OpenAI, and Oracle, announced in January by U.S. President Donald Trump, with plans to invest up to $500 billion in AI infrastructure.

Neither Nvidia nor Lancium immediately responded to requests for comment.
