N.V.S. Reddy gets additional charge of Hyderabad metro operations, ticketing integration

N.V.S. Reddy, adviser to the Telangana government on Urban Transport and Metro Rail and a former managing director of Hyderabad Metro Rail, has been handed a fresh set of responsibilities covering the city's public transport network.

A government order issued by Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju on Saturday tasks Mr. Reddy with coordinating the proposed common ticketing system linking the metro with the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation and other modes of public transport. He will also work on rolling out daily, weekly and monthly metro passes, either on their own or jointly with the RTC.

In addition, Mr. Reddy will oversee the operations and maintenance of the existing Phase I Hyderabad Metro Rail network, sharing the responsibility with additional managing director Ajit Reddy.

The order further assigns him a planning role. He is to provide inputs for traffic and transportation projects taken up by municipal corporations in the Hyderabad Metropolitan area, and to guide civic agencies on steps to improve urban mobility.

He will also assist in the running and expansion of the metro rail network, among other duties.
