NWR to Add 132 Coaches to 94 Trains to Tackle September Passenger Rush

North Western Railway (NWR) is set to temporarily augment 94 trains with 132 additional coaches throughout September to accommodate an expected surge in passenger traffic.

The move, announced by Chief Public Relations Officer Amit Sudarshan, will add capacity across 47 pairs of trains serving major routes in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Delhi, and beyond. The extra coaches will provide more seats and berths, offering passengers greater flexibility during the busy travel period.

Key Augmentations

Several long-distance and intercity services will see significant additions. The Jodhpur-Indore route will gain two sleeper and three general coaches, while the Indore-Bhagat Ki Kothi service will receive a similar boost. The Jodhpur-Varanasi City trains will each get an additional Third AC coach.

For the Ajmer-Amritsar pair, one sleeper coach will be added, and the Ajmer-Bandra Terminus services will receive either sleeper or general class coaches. The Jaipur-Jodhpur route will see one First-cum-Second AC and one Third AC coach added.

Regional Connectivity

Short-distance services in the northern region will also benefit. The Sri Ganganagar-Ambala, Hanumangarh-Jaipur, and Hanumangarh-Sri Ganganagar trains will each receive four general class coaches. Similarly, the Sri Ganganagar-Bathinda and Bathinda-Dhuri services will be augmented with four general coaches each.

Several other routes, including Bikaner-Bandra Terminus, Sri Ganganagar-Tiruchirappalli, and Delhi-Bathinda, will see the addition of sleeper or AC coaches. The Madar-Rewari, Rewari-Phulera, Rewari-Hisar, and Rewari-Ringas services will each get five second general class coaches.

Implementation Period

The temporary augmentation will be effective from September 1 to September 30, 2026, with specific dates varying by train and originating station. Passengers are advised to check the updated composition of their trains before booking.
