Oxygen Cylinder Blast in Delhi's Okhla Kills Worker, Injures Four
A 35-year-old helper died and four others were injured when an oxygen cylinder exploded during unloading at a Delhi godown.
A tragic accident in Delhi's Okhla Phase 1 industrial area on Wednesday morning claimed the life of a worker and left four others injured. The incident occurred when an oxygen cylinder exploded at a commercial godown around 11 am.
Police received a PCR call about the blast at approximately 10:45 am, prompting the immediate dispatch of three fire tenders and a multi-casualty response vehicle to the scene.
The deceased has been identified as Mohit Singh, a 35-year-old resident of Jaipur who had been employed as a helper with a local firm for about three years. He died on the spot.
The four injured workers, identified as Umesh, Arvind, Manoj, and Pankaj, were rushed to the AIIMS Trauma Centre for medical treatment.
According to preliminary findings, the workers were employed by a company involved in the trading and local distribution of industrial oxygen cylinders, which are used for medical purposes and gas-cutting work.
The explosion occurred as a vehicle carrying the cylinders arrived at the premises. While workers were unloading and moving the cylinders into the godown, one reportedly fell from the vehicle onto the road and detonated.
The exact cause of the blast has not yet been determined. Police have stated that the cylinder, the vehicle, and other materials at the site will be examined by technical and forensic experts to establish the precise reason for the explosion.
