Omani Sultan and Saudi Crown Prince Hold Talks in Jeddah Amid Regional Tensions

Oman's Sultan Haitham met Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Jeddah for talks on regional security and de-escalation.

Oman's Sultan Haitham bin Tariq arrived in Jeddah on Tuesday for a working visit, where he was received by Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at King Abdulaziz International Airport. The two leaders subsequently held discussions in the Red Sea city, with the Omani side indicating that the talks covered regional and international developments, alongside possible avenues for de-escalation and peace.

The meeting comes at a time of heightened concern across the Gulf, as renewed hostilities between the United States and Iran have raised anxieties over regional security, energy supply lines, and the safety of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. The visit underscores the delicate diplomatic environment facing Gulf states amid the ongoing conflict.

Oman has historically served as a quiet intermediary between Tehran, Washington, and other Gulf Arab capitals, and has consistently advocated for dialogue during the current crisis. Sultan Haitham departed Jeddah later the same day, with the Crown Prince accompanying him to the airport for his send-off.
