J&K CM watches 'Mirzapur' at Srinagar multiplex, pitches for stronger film ecosystem

Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on the second day of an ongoing four-day film festival watched the screening of 'Mirzapur' at Srinagar's only operational multiplex. His visit is being seen as part of a broader push to revive cinema culture in the region after years of shutdowns.

Speaking on the occasion, Abdullah said that the presence of leading artistes and filmmakers in J&K would further strengthen the region's association with cinema. He added that such engagement would contribute to building a vibrant film ecosystem in the Union Territory.

The festival, which is currently underway in Srinagar, aims to bring film professionals and audiences together. The Chief Minister's participation underscores the administration's interest in positioning J&K as a viable destination for film production and exhibition.

Srinagar's multiplex has remained the only functional one in the city, and its use for such events marks a symbolic step in normalising entertainment infrastructure in the valley.
