Forest Department, ISRO shine at Onam Tourism Week awards

Kerala's Tourism Department announced winners across categories for Onam Tourism Week 2026, with the Forest Department and ISRO taking top honours.

The Kerala Tourism Department has declared the winners of the Onam Tourism Week 2026 competitions, capping the festival with a cultural procession that drew participation from government agencies, public-sector units, and private enterprises.

In the float competition for State government departments, the Kerala Forest and Wildlife Department took the first prize, with the Excise Department finishing second. Among Central government institutions, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) secured the top spot, followed by Southern Railway.

The public-sector category saw the Livestock Development Board claim first place, while the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) and the National Ayurveda Mission shared the second prize. Among local self-government bodies, the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation emerged victorious, with the Thiruvananthapuram District Panchayat in second place.

NABARD won in the banking sector, and Krupalayam Old-Age Home received a consolation prize. In the visual arts segment, Agasthya Siddha Marma Kalari Sanghom won first prize in Kalari, while Hussein Kollayil took second in Arabanamutt. Vignesh (Panchari Melam) and Kaurava Kalasamiti (Shinkarimelam) won first and second prizes respectively in their percussion categories.

For illuminations, Keltron led the public-sector category, followed by Jalabhavan. The State Legislative Assembly complex won among State departments, with Thiruvananthapuram Corporation as runner-up. In the private sector, Kalyan Silks took first prize and Anna Bhavan Restaurant came second.
