Orlando Bloom will receive the Filming Italy International Award at the Venice Film Festival on September 6.
Orlando Bloom is set to be honoured with the Filming Italy International Award during the upcoming Venice Film Festival. The actor will receive the accolade on September 6, as announced by the organisers of Filming Italy -- Los Angeles.
Bloom will be in Venice as part of the cast of Werner Herzog's competition film 'Bucking Fastard', where he plays Gareth Mulroney, the lover of twin sisters Jean and Joan Holbrooke, portrayed by real-life siblings Kate and Rooney Mara. The sisters become tabloid sensations and grow obsessed with him, according to the film's synopsis.
Tiziana Rocca, who heads Filming Italy and also leads the Taormina Film Festival, praised Bloom as "an actor of extraordinary charisma, capable of captivating audiences around the world with his elegance, talent and versatility." She noted that he achieved international fame through his roles in 'The Lord of the Rings' and 'Pirates of the Caribbean'.
Bloom's recent projects include Sean Ellis' boxing thriller 'The Cut', which he produced through his company Amazing Owl, and the crime comedy 'Deep Cover', a Prime Video U.K. Original directed by Tom Kingsley.
The 83rd Venice Film Festival runs from September 2 to 12.
