AIMIM chief Owaisi urges voters to respond to electoral roll anomaly notices
AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi reassured voters who received SIR anomaly notices, urging them to appear before the ERO with documents.
Hyderabad: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi on Friday moved to reassure electors who have received notices under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. He said the party's offices remain open to assist anyone facing difficulties with the process.
Owaisi advised those who have been served notices to appear before the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) on the scheduled date and carry any one document from the prescribed list. He stressed that the SIR should not be taken lightly, warning that removal from the final electoral roll in October would not only cost a person their vote but could also invite suspicion over their citizenship.
The AIMIM chief said the party has been working for more than two-and-a-half months to ensure no genuine citizen is left out of the revision exercise. He outlined several anomaly scenarios that trigger such notices, including a 50-year or more age gap between an elector and a parent, or families with six or more siblings, and explained which documents would be appropriate to submit in each case.
Owaisi urged electors not to panic, reiterating that the party is available to provide any assistance needed during the process.
