Owaisi seeks more time for electoral roll revision, flags Ram Mandir probe

Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Thursday criticised the October 17 deadline for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, calling it insufficient. He urged authorities to provide more time so that no legitimate voter is left out of the final list.

Owaisi noted that electors who have received notices need at least two months to respond. The current timeline, he argued, does not allow voters adequate opportunity to complete the necessary formalities.

In a separate matter, Owaisi raised questions over the lack of action against individuals accused of financial irregularities in the management of the Ram Mandir. He pointed out that the issue had been discussed in Parliament and alleged that significant funds were misappropriated.

He said devotees are angered because their faith has been treated with disregard. While the government has the authority to make appointments, Owaisi insisted that those accused of theft must face consequences. He also demanded that the findings of an inquiry into the matter be made public.

Owaisi accused the ruling establishment of using religious sentiment for political advantage, stating that votes and power were sought in the name of devotion. He alleged that the accused had exploited a project tied to the faith of millions and called for responsibility to be fixed.
