Owaisi seeks four more weeks for electoral roll revision in Karwan

Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has termed the extension of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) deadline to November 9 as insufficient, demanding an additional four weeks to address pending electoral roll issues.
Speaking after visiting hearing venues in the Karwan Assembly constituency on Tuesday, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president said a longer window would allow the many residents who have received notices adequate time to respond.
Owaisi highlighted the scale of the exercise in Karwan, noting that 59,470 anomalies have been identified in the constituency. He added that 40,750 cases remain unmapped, while a total of 1,00,223 notices have been issued to voters.
The MP also voiced concerns about electoral rolls marking certain voters as having "shifted" from their addresses, asserting that several of these individuals continue to reside at the same locations. He further pointed to instances where voters have been recorded as deceased despite being alive.
Owaisi's remarks come amid ongoing efforts to clean up voter lists, with his demand for an extended timeline aimed at ensuring accuracy and preventing eligible citizens from being excluded.
