Ozzy Osbourne Biopic Script Complete, Director Talks Underway

Jack Osbourne confirms the Ozzy Osbourne biopic script is done, with director talks underway and a fan-first vision.

The long-gestating biopic about the late Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne is moving forward. Jack Osbourne, the rock icon's son, has confirmed that the script is complete and that the family is in discussions with potential directors.

Speaking about the project, which is being developed with Sony Pictures, Jack revealed that conversations have already taken place with an actor they have in mind to portray his father. While he did not name the actor, he expressed optimism about the project, saying it is "gung-ho" and that it would be "awesome" if everything falls into place.

Jack emphasized that the family's guiding principle for the film is to serve the fans. He described a mantra he uses in family business meetings: "give the fans what they want." He explained that this is the audience his father performed for and the reason behind his tours and shows.

This fan-first approach means the film will avoid an unconventional or overly artistic style. Jack stated they are not making an "artsy, esoteric biopic," as that is not what the fans want. The goal is a film that connects directly with the audience that supported Ozzy's career.

The project was first announced in 2021, with Sony Pictures and PolyGram Entertainment attached. Oscar-nominated writer Lee Hall was initially set to write the screenplay. The film aims to chronicle Ozzy's life, his relationship with his wife Sharon, and his enduring legacy as one of heavy metal's most influential figures.

Ozzy Osbourne passed away on July 22, 2025, at the age of 76. He had been battling coronary artery disease and Parkinson's disease.
