Palamaner youth held for murder of woman beggar after liquor-fuelled attack
Police arrested Satish Kumar for allegedly stabbing a woman beggar to death in Palamaner after she raised an alarm during his inebriated attack.
Police in Palamaner town have arrested a youth in connection with the murder of an unidentified woman beggar, an incident that occurred late last month. The accused, Satish Kumar, a resident of Ambedkar Nagar in Palamaner, was taken into custody at the Chittoor railway station on Friday.
Investigators recovered a knife from his possession, which they believe was the weapon used in the crime. The victim, a woman believed to be in her late 50s, was found dead under suspicious circumstances on Siva Temple Street on September 1.
According to the police, the sequence of events began on August 31 when Satish, after being scolded by his father for playing games, took a knife from his home. He then consumed alcohol and proceeded to a secluded spot near T.K. Street. There, a family friend confronted him and warned that he would inform his father about his behaviour.
Following this exchange, Satish allegedly moved towards Siva Temple Street, where he kicked the woman beggar. When she grabbed hold of him and raised an alarm, he reportedly attacked her with the knife before fleeing the scene. He then made his way to Chittoor, where police, acting on scientific evidence, tracked him down at the railway station.
The accused is expected to be produced before a court, the police said.
