Parivartan vehicle scrappage scheme crosses 1,300 registrations in Delhi-NCR
Over 1,300 registrations under the Parivartan vehicle renewal scheme in Delhi-NCR; 42 banks and 15 OEMs onboarded.
The Parivartan scheme, approved by the Union Cabinet on 3rd June 2026, has crossed 1,300 beneficiary registrations as of 27th August 2026. The programme aims to replace over two lakh trucks and buses in Delhi-NCR that conform to BS-IV or older emission norms with BS-VI compliant or electric vehicles.
The scheme is funded through the National Capital Region Planning Board under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, with implementation led by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. It carries a total outlay of ₹9,585 crore, including ₹5,041 crore in central budgetary support.
Beneficiaries purchasing new BS-VI diesel, CNG, or electric vehicles receive a package of incentives. These include a 5% interest saving on vehicle loans for five years, a 100% road tax waiver for ten years, and full exemption on registration fees. Participating automakers offer at least an 8% discount on ex-showroom prices.
Buyers of BS-VI diesel or CNG vehicles also get monthly fuel vouchers ranging from ₹1,200 to ₹4,800 for five years. Those opting for electric vehicles receive a one-time incentive between ₹64,000 and ₹2.56 lakh.
Since the scheme's launch on 14th July 2026, 42 banks and non-banking financial companies have been onboarded to provide interest subvention. Memoranda of understanding have been signed with 15 auto OEMs to extend discounts to eligible buyers.
A multi-channel awareness campaign is underway across Delhi-NCR, covering print, electronic, digital, and outdoor media at fuel stations, transport hubs, toll plazas, and Regional Transport Offices. The first vehicle purchase under the scheme was completed by Sh. Mahendra Singh in Alwar, Rajasthan, on 19th August 2026.
