Pattinson's 'Primetime' Draws Seven-Minute Ovation at Venice

Robert Pattinson's latest film, 'Primetime', received a rapturous seven-minute standing ovation following its premiere at the Venice Film Festival. The actor's portrayal of Chris Hansen, the host of the controversial series 'To Catch a Predator', was met with sustained applause from the audience.

Pattinson's partner, Suki Waterhouse, was in attendance and was seen leaning in to kiss the actor as the cheers continued. The crowd's enthusiasm also extended to director Lance Oppenheim and singer-songwriter Phoebe Bridgers, who makes her acting debut in the film, with audience members chanting their names.

'Primetime' is based on Luke Dittrich's 2007 Esquire article and explores the production of the television series, which used complex sting operations to confront alleged child sexual predators. The film marks Oppenheim's feature debut, following his acclaimed work on documentaries such as 'Such Kind of Heaven' and HBO's 'Ren Faire'.

The real-life Chris Hansen has been publicly skeptical of the film, describing Pattinson's performance as "overly dramatic." Responding to this at a press conference, Pattinson expressed hope that Hansen would appreciate the movie, noting the "electrifying" quality of the man who inspired the character.

Produced by A24, 'Primetime' is competing for the Golden Lion at the festival. Pattinson, Bridgers, and co-star Skyler Gisondo took time to sign autographs and pose for photos with fans.

The premiere adds to a busy year for Pattinson, who has also appeared in 'The Drama', Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey', and Denis Villeneuve's 'Dune: Part III'. He is currently filming 'The Batman: Part II', in which he will reprise his role as Bruce Wayne.
