Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has described tribal communities as the guardians of nature and repositories of ancient wisdom. In a social media message, he underscored the importance of preserving and honouring the traditions of indigenous groups.
His remarks come on the occasion of World Tribal Day, with this year's theme paying tribute to indigenous midwives. Kalyan noted that the theme rightly recognises the role of tribal women who have carried forward traditional healthcare knowledge through generations.
The Deputy Chief Minister also outlined several measures taken by the state government for the welfare of tribal populations. He specifically cited the Adavi Thalli Baata initiative, which is aimed at the development of forest-dwelling communities, as a key step in this direction.
Improved road and communication connectivity to remote tribal habitations was another achievement highlighted in his post. Kalyan said these efforts are intended to integrate isolated tribal settlements with mainstream development while respecting their cultural identity.
His message reaffirms the government's commitment to supporting tribal welfare while acknowledging the intrinsic link between these communities and the natural environment.
