Vijayan accuses ED of targeting family in Exalogic-CMRL probe
Pinarayi Vijayan criticised the ED's Exalogic-CMRL investigation, saying it targets him and his daughter and that the company's dealings were lawful.
Leader of the Opposition Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday questioned the Directorate of Enforcement's investigation into the Exalogic-CMRL transaction, alleging that the agency was using the case to target him and his daughter.
Speaking at the inauguration of a CPI(M) Alappuzha district committee meeting, Mr. Vijayan said the ED's approach suggested it was looking beyond him and going after his family. He remarked that the target was not the daughter but the father, and that this was not something the father was encountering for the first time.
Mr. Vijayan maintained that Exalogic had received legitimate payments for services rendered in accordance with the law and had paid all applicable taxes. He noted that the company had provided services not only to the CMRL but also to several other institutions, including schools run by a prominent charitable organisation.
He said allegations of money being transferred abroad were being raised over a transaction based on an agreement entered into years before his daughter's marriage.
According to Mr. Vijayan, the ruling party at the Centre was targeting him and his daughter as part of an attempt to weaken the Opposition.
