Pitt Cast Boldly Goes Where No Medical Drama Has Gone Before
The Pitt cast performed a live read of Star Trek's 'The Man Trap' in Los Angeles, raising funds for the Writers Guild Foundation.
The emergency room doctors of "The Pitt" traded their scrubs for Starfleet uniforms on Sunday, taking part in a live reading of the very first episode of the iconic sci-fi series "Star Trek." The event, held in Los Angeles, saw the cast perform "The Man Trap" before a live audience.
Noah Wyle stepped into the captain's chair, reading the part of Captain Kirk. Taylor Dearden took on the logical Vulcan, Spock, while Katherine LaNasa voiced the gruff Dr. "Bones" McCoy. The rest of the ensemble filled out the Enterprise crew, with Shabana Azeez as Lieutenant Sulu and Ayesha Harris as Lieutenant Uhura. Fiona Dourif played Nancy Crater, a role that included a dramatic death scene.
The performance served as the launch event for the Writers Guild Foundation's new "Retro Reads" program. All proceeds from the evening will go to support the foundation's work.
The event also served as an early celebration for the franchise, as September 8 marks the 60th anniversary of the original "Star Trek" series premiere.
