Pixxel Raises $100 Million in India's Largest Space-Tech Funding Round
Indian space-tech startup Pixxel raises $100 million in a Series C round led by Temasek and Seraphim, marking the largest such funding for an Indian space company.
Bengaluru-based space technology startup Pixxel has raised $100 million in a Series C funding round, marking the largest single funding round by a space technology company in India. The round was led by Singapore's state investor Temasek and British space-technology venture firm Seraphim.
The company, which counts Google among its backers, said the latest round also saw participation from existing investors Radical Ventures and growX Ventures, along with new investors 360 ONE Asset and IMM Investment. With this infusion, Pixxel's total funding now stands at $195 million.
Pixxel emerged as part of a new wave of Indian space startups following the government's decision to open the sector to private participation. Founded by Awais Ahmed, the company initially focused on hyperspectral satellites capable of capturing detailed information about the Earth's surface beyond what conventional imaging offers.
Over time, Pixxel has broadened its scope to include Aurora, an Earth intelligence software platform, and satellite systems designed for both commercial and sovereign space missions. Together, these components form the core of the company's planetary infrastructure vision, which aims to connect sensors, software, and space systems to help governments and industries convert Earth observation data into actionable intelligence.
The fresh capital will be directed toward expanding Pixxel's sensing capabilities through its Honeybee satellite constellation and high-resolution optical imaging satellites. The company also plans to further develop Aurora as a platform that integrates these datasets into decision-ready insights for its clients.
