India's largest business delegation to Japan: Goyal to lead 200-member team
Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal will lead India's largest-ever business delegation to Japan from August 24-27, covering Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka.
Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal is set to lead a 200-member business delegation to Japan from August 24 to 27, marking India's largest-ever business mission to the country. The four-day visit will span Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka, with a focus on deepening trade and investment ties between the two nations.
The delegation includes representatives from manufacturing, semiconductors, clean energy, steel, automotive, financial services, healthcare, and start-ups. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry said the visit reflects the scale of ambition both countries bring to their Special Strategic and Global Partnership.
In Tokyo, Goyal will meet top executives of major Japanese industrial conglomerates and participate in a round-table with Keidanren, the Japan Business Federation, which represents over 1,500 enterprises. Dedicated sessions will cover semiconductors, artificial intelligence, start-ups, and discussions with foreign institutional investors.
Goyal will also hold bilateral talks with Japan's Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Akazawa Ryosei, and interact with senior government and parliamentary members, as well as the Indian diaspora.
The delegation will then travel to Nagoya, Central Japan's industrial hub, for a business roadshow organized with the Central Japan Economic Federation (Chukeiren) and the Nagoya Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Meetings are planned with Aichi Prefecture leadership and major automotive and steel manufacturers.
The tour concludes in Osaka with an Investors and Business Roadshow, alongside meetings with leading Japanese corporations in electronics, industrial, and consumer markets.
Japan remains a key long-term partner for India in technology, industrial collaboration, and capital inflows across infrastructure, steel, and automotive sectors. The ministry said the visit is expected to give fresh momentum to bilateral trade and investment ties, with high-technology manufacturing and next-generation industries central to India's vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat @2047.
