PM Spotlight on History Website, Drug-Free Youth Campaign in Mann Ki Baat
PM Modi's 137th Mann Ki Baat featured a Mumbai man's history website and the drug-free youth campaign.
In the 137th episode of his monthly radio address, Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday highlighted the efforts of a Mumbai resident who has created an interactive website to make Indian history more accessible and engaging.
The Prime Minister spoke with Krishna Seshadri, who developed the platform www.bharatrajya.com. The website allows users to select any year and view which rulers governed different parts of India at that time. Seshadri, who has a background in engineering and marketing, said his lifelong interest in history drove him to create the resource.
During the conversation, Seshadri noted that school curricula often focus on a few prominent empires, leaving many significant dynasties like the Cholas, Pallavas, Karkotas, and Ahoms relatively unknown. He expressed a desire to introduce people to these great kingdoms.
When asked which historical figures he would like to meet, Seshadri named Rajaraja Chola, the military strategist Hemu, and Tribhuvan Mahadevi of Odisha's Bhaumakara dynasty. He praised Tribhuvan Mahadevi as one of India's first independent female rulers who stabilized her kingdom after her husband's death in battle.
The Prime Minister appreciated the website's feature that allows users to submit corrections and suggestions. Seshadri explained that this collaborative approach helps improve accuracy and has led to new features, including regional-level data and a 'trump card' style compilation for children.
In a separate segment, the Prime Minister spoke about the 'Nasha-mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat' campaign, which aims to create a drug-free India. He stressed that drug addiction affects not just individuals but entire families and society, and commended the youth for joining the movement in large numbers.
