PM Modi receives Uzbekistan's Oliy Darajali Do'stlik Order, dedicating it to the enduring friendship between the two nations.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred with Uzbekistan's prestigious 'Oliy Darajali Do'stlik' Order on Sunday, August 30, 2026. The honour was presented by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during the Prime Minister's two-day visit to Tashkent, aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in trade, clean energy, and connectivity.
Accepting the award, PM Modi described it as a matter of great pride and dedicated it to the enduring bond between India and Uzbekistan. He noted that the word 'Dostlik', meaning friendship, resonates deeply in India, and expressed that the honour truly captured the essence of the relationship between the two countries.
"Being honoured with Uzbekistan's highest award is a matter of great pride for me," PM Modi said. He added that receiving the award was not a personal honour but an honour for 1.4 billion Indians, and he accepted it with humility on behalf of all citizens.
Earlier, PM Modi held talks with President Mirziyoyev, following which the two nations agreed to elevate their bilateral ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership. The Prime Minister is scheduled to travel to Kyrgyzstan from Tashkent to attend the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit, scheduled for August 31 to September 1.
