At SRCC Centenary, PM Modi Pitches Viksit Bharat, Cites Economic Gains
PM Modi at SRCC's centenary hailed India's 7.8% growth, infrastructure push, and urged youth to build global Indian firms on the path to Viksit Bharat.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday participated in the centenary celebrations of Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) in Delhi, paying tribute to founder Shri Ram and describing the institution's 100-year journey as an "ocean of achievements."
Tracing the college's evolution from a modest Daryaganj establishment to a premier institution, Modi noted its alumni have excelled across fields, including politics, arts, and law. He recalled working with notable graduates like the late Arun Jaitley and Sanjeev Sanyal.
Reflecting on his 2013 address at the college, Modi said the speech reflected his inner passion to serve the nation wholeheartedly. He contrasted the policy paralysis of the past with today's policy dynamism, citing India's 7.8 percent quarterly growth despite global headwinds like the West Asia conflict.
Presenting economic data, Modi pointed to a 9 percent rise in electricity production and over 20 percent growth in vehicle sales between April and June. He cited an 8 percent increase in steel and cement consumption as evidence of rapid construction activity.
The Prime Minister highlighted the success of initiatives like Jan Dhan Yojana, which has connected nearly 60 crore citizens to the banking system, and 'Make in India', noting smartphone exports now exceed Rs 2.5 lakh crore. Defense production has hit an all-time high of nearly Rs 2 lakh crore, with exports growing from Rs 600-700 crore in 2013-14 to Rs 40,000 crore today.
Modi outlined ambitious future goals, including becoming a superpower in agriculture exports, establishing an Indian space station, and hosting the Olympic Games. He urged students to dream big and build global consulting, financial, and legal firms, asserting that if Indians can lead world-class companies, Indian-built companies can lead globally too.
Drawing inspiration from the college crest, Modi compared the youth's journey to a ship advancing toward the sun, calling for collective effort on the path to a Viksit Bharat.
