PM Modi Remembers Bhupen Hazarika on 100th Birth Anniversary

PM Modi pays tribute to Dr Bhupen Hazarika on his 100th birth anniversary, recalling his musical legacy and the spirit of the Northeast.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday paid homage to Dr Bhupen Hazarika, the legendary singer and cultural icon, on the occasion of his 100th birth anniversary. In a message on social media, the Prime Minister recalled how Hazarika's music carried the essence of Assam and the broader Northeast to audiences across India.

Modi noted that Hazarika's songs gave voice to the aspirations and emotions of countless people, bridging communities through melody. He also remembered attending the launch of the centenary celebrations in Guwahati last year, calling the event a warm memory.

Describing Hazarika as an enduring inspiration, Modi wrote that the artiste's life and work would continue to influence future generations. Widely known as the 'Bard of the Brahmaputra', Hazarika's compositions reflected the culture and people of Assam while resonating with listeners beyond linguistic and regional divides.

Tributes have poured in from across the country to honour the singer's lasting contribution to Indian music and the cultural heritage of the Northeast.
