Forensic scan of Prajwal Revanna's jail phone, pen drive finds 250-plus video clips

Forensic examination of a mobile phone and a pen drive seized from the prison cell of former MP Prajwal Revanna has thrown up more than 250 video clips, investigators have found. The material on the two devices is reported to include pornographic clips as well as OTT series and films.

The phone alone yielded 147 clips, while the pen drive held over 100 videos, according to the findings of the analysis.

Prajwal has told investigators that he used the handset primarily for making calls and has denied knowing anything about the videos stored on the devices. He is reported to have said that the phone was passed around among several prisoners on a rotational basis, and that he therefore cannot say who downloaded the clips and other content found on it.

On his communications, Prajwal is said to have admitted to contacting his mother, but claimed he spoke to her through a phone used by one of her maids rather than by calling her directly. He also reportedly told investigators that he had spoken to a female friend. The device, according to the account, was used inside the jail for both ordinary calls and video calls.

Investigators are now going through the call records and are likely to issue notices to the people whose numbers were contacted from the handset. Those questioned will be asked to help establish who used the phone and what the calls were about.

Prajwal is reported to have paid about ₹1 lakh for the phone, which reached him through a chain of people, including a prison staff member who has since been arrested and is being questioned.

Police are also examining the phone's data and other digital evidence to piece together who operated the device at different points and the circumstances in which it was used inside the jail.
