President Murmu: Infrastructure Boom Fuels Jobs, Investor Confidence
President Murmu says India's infrastructure expansion is creating jobs and boosting investor confidence, with digital payments and renewables leading the way.
In her address on the eve of Independence Day, President Droupadi Murmu underscored the country's rapid infrastructure development as a cornerstone of economic growth. She noted that the expansion of highways, waterways, railways, and airways has opened new avenues for enterprises, generated employment, and strengthened investor confidence.
The President also highlighted India's digital infrastructure, calling it the world's largest and best. She pointed out that digital payments have become commonplace even in small rural shops and among street vendors, with more than half of the world's real-time digital transactions now occurring in India. This digital revolution, she said, is a collective achievement of the people and the government, and has also improved transparency in the delivery of welfare benefits.
On the economic front, President Murmu asserted that despite global geopolitical instability and conflicts, India remains the fastest-growing major economy. She cited projections indicating that India's growth rate will be more than twice the global average. She linked this progress to the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan', which has strengthened the foundations of economic progress and national security.
Additionally, the President noted the unprecedented momentum in renewable energy development, with India achieving some Sustainable Development Goals for 2030 ahead of schedule.
