William and Kate Visit Leeds Rugby Club to Back MND Fundraiser

The Prince and Princess of Wales visited Headingley Rugby Stadium in Leeds on Tuesday to lend their support to Sir Kevin Sinfield's fundraising drive for motor neurone disease (MND), a rare condition that damages the nerves in the brain and spinal cord.

William and Kate were received at the Leeds Rhinos rugby club before moving into the stands, where they spoke with staff members. They later stepped onto the pitch to meet coaches and watch children take part in rugby practice.

The visit coincided with the third day of Sinfield's attempt to complete seven ultramarathons in seven days. He is undertaking the challenge in memory of his late friend Rob Burrow, who died in 2024 after a four-year battle with MND.

During their time at the ground, the royal couple chatted with coaches and players on the field and met groups of youngsters, with girls among those seen playing rugby. They returned to the pitch later in the visit for further conversations with players and staff.

The Prince of Wales had previously met Burrow before his death, presenting him and Sinfield with their CBEs. In November 2025, William opened the Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease.
