Bengaluru Police launch Project Khushi for personnel health and wellness
Bengaluru City Police launch Project Khushi, a structured wellness programme for personnel, starting with 600 staff in Electronics City.
The Bengaluru City Police have rolled out 'Project Khushi', a structured health and wellness initiative designed to support the long-term physical and mental well-being of its personnel. Home Minister Priyank Kharge announced the launch on Tuesday.
The programme will first be implemented in the Electronics City police division, covering approximately 600 personnel. Each batch will undergo a three-month regimen that includes health check-ups, expert-led guidance sessions, and digital engagement activities.
Project Khushi focuses on preventive healthcare, nutrition, physical activity, quality sleep, and stress management, alongside other lifestyle factors that contribute to the long-term health of police staff.
A pilot phase conducted earlier under the project yielded encouraging outcomes. According to the Home Minister, around 61% of participants saw a reduction in blood sugar levels, 70% corrected Vitamin B12 deficiencies, and 59% reduced their body weight.
Kharge said these results demonstrate that sustained, scientifically designed health interventions can positively impact the well-being of police personnel.
"Our police personnel work every day in challenging and stressful conditions to ensure the safety of our communities. It is essential to pay continuous attention to their health. Healthy police personnel are the backbone of an effective and resilient policing system," Kharge said.
He added that equal importance must be given to mental well-being, a healthy lifestyle, and stress management, along with physical health.
