Putin Greets PM Modi on 75th Birthday, Praises His Role in India-Russia Ties

Russian President Vladimir Putin wished Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his 75th birthday, praising his contribution to India-Russia ties and thanking him for the hospitality during his New Delhi visit.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has extended birthday greetings to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who turned 75, in a message that underscored the depth of the bilateral relationship between New Delhi and Moscow.

In the message, Putin said Modi commands genuine respect among Indians and carries considerable standing on the world stage. He credited the Prime Minister with a personal role in deepening the special and privileged strategic partnership between the two countries, describing that contribution as difficult to measure.

The Russian President also thanked Modi for the reception given to him and his delegation during his visit to New Delhi the previous week, calling the welcome warm and cordial.

Reflecting on their discussions, Putin described the talks as substantive, frank and productive. He said the exchanges had once again shown Modi's political wisdom and foresight, and he spoke of the pleasure of holding direct conversations with him.

Looking ahead, Putin said both sides would keep up constructive cooperation on bilateral and international matters of importance to their peoples.

The greetings follow Putin's departure from New Delhi on Sunday after attending the two-day BRICS Summit held under India's chairship. During the summit, he took part in the two BRICS sessions and visited the Bharat Innovates exhibition at Bharat Mandapam.

On the sidelines of the summit, Modi and Putin held a bilateral meeting covering closer trade ties, including implementation of the Programme for Economic Cooperation 2030, along with cooperation in infrastructure, energy, technology, defence and culture.
