Putin dismisses impact of Ukrainian strikes on Russian industry
Putin says Ukrainian attacks on Russian industrial sites, including refineries and Wildberries warehouses, have had no critical impact.
President Vladimir Putin has sought to downplay the effect of Ukrainian drone and missile strikes on Russian industrial infrastructure, insisting the attacks have not caused any critical damage.
Speaking at an economic conference attended by ministers and business leaders on Wednesday, Putin acknowledged the strikes but framed them as having limited strategic consequence for Russia's industrial capacity.
The Ukrainian attacks have in recent weeks targeted several oil refineries across Russian territory, as well as commercial warehouses belonging to Wildberries, the country's largest online retailer. These facilities have been among the most visible targets in a campaign that Kyiv says is aimed at disrupting Russia's war economy.
Putin's remarks appeared intended to reassure domestic audiences and the business community that the country's industrial backbone remains intact despite the ongoing strikes. He did not provide specific figures on damage or production losses.
The comments come as Russia continues to face mounting pressure on its energy sector, with Ukrainian forces repeatedly demonstrating the ability to strike deep inside Russian territory. However, the president's tone suggested confidence that the country can absorb the impact of these attacks without significant disruption to its broader economic operations.
