Putin Envoy Dmitriev Holds Constructive Talks in Washington on Ukraine War
Kirill Dmitriev, Vladimir Putin's envoy, held constructive talks with US officials in Washington on ending the Ukraine war and possible post-war US-Russia energy initiatives.
Kirill Dmitriev, an envoy of Russian President Vladimir Putin, held what a US official described as "constructive" discussions with American officials in Washington on ending the war in Ukraine, the visit also touching on possible energy initiatives between the two countries once the conflict is over.
The talks took place on Monday, according to the US official, who said Dmitriev was in the American capital to carry forward discussions on a peaceful resolution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict and on potential US-Russia energy cooperation in the postwar period.
Dmitriev also heads Russia's RDIF sovereign wealth fund.
His visit follows a meeting last week in New York between President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, during which Zelenskiy said the two leaders discussed a possible ceasefire targeting energy-related infrastructure.
Earlier this month, Trump envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner travelled to Moscow for talks with Putin.
The Washington discussions are the latest in a series of contacts between US and Russian officials as diplomatic efforts around the war continue.
