Putin Grants Kirill Dmitriev Five More Years at Helm of RDIF
President Vladimir Putin has extended Kirill Dmitriev's tenure as head of Russia's RDIF sovereign wealth fund by five years, a decree published Monday shows.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree extending Kirill Dmitriev's leadership of the country's sovereign wealth fund, the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), for another five years. The decree was made public on Monday.
Dmitriev, a US-educated investment banker, holds a dual role as a presidential envoy. In that capacity, he has served as one of Moscow's representatives in high-level engagements with the administration of US President Donald Trump.
His diplomatic and economic portfolio was on display last week, when he travelled to the United States for a round of meetings. According to people familiar with the matter, Dmitriev sat down with Trump envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, among others.
The discussions covered economic cooperation between Russia and the United States, energy-related issues, and efforts aimed at bringing the war in Ukraine to an end.
The five-year extension ensures continuity at the top of the RDIF, a fund that has functioned as a key channel for Russian investment outreach, even as Dmitriev's parallel role keeps him at the centre of delicate bilateral contacts with Washington.
