India Unveils 'Raksha' Framework to Shape Defence Diplomacy for Next Decade
India's new 'Raksha' framework outlines a 10-year vision for defence diplomacy, focusing on partnerships, maritime security, and Make-in-India exports.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday released 'Raksha', a comprehensive strategic framework that will guide India's defence diplomacy and global partnerships over the next ten years. The document is designed to align national security objectives with proactive international cooperation, offering an actionable vision to promote long-term stability and strengthen India's role in the evolving global security landscape.
The framework identifies several core pillars, including the deepening of bilateral and multilateral defence ties, expansion of joint military exercises, and enhancement of training and capacity-building initiatives with friendly nations. A significant emphasis is placed on promoting indigenous defence exports under the Make-in-India initiative, with the goal of positioning India as a reliable global manufacturing partner for defence platforms and technologies.
Maritime security is another key focus area. The blueprint underscores India's commitment to acting as a Net Security Provider and First Responder in the Indian Ocean Region, reinforcing its dedication to ensuring peace and stability in this strategically vital area.
The release ceremony was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of External Affairs, and the National Security Council Secretariat. The framework is intended to ensure India continues to play a pivotal role in fostering a rules-based international order over the coming decade.
