Ramayana's 15-Minute Exclusive Preview Wows Exhibitors at Big Cine Expo 2026
Exhibitors at Big Cine Expo 2026 in Chennai were treated to a 15-minute private preview of Ramayana, praising its VFX as Hollywood-grade.
The Big Cine Expo 2026, held on August 18 and 19 in Chennai, brought together theatre owners, design consultants, equipment manufacturers, and other cinema industry stakeholders. A key attraction at the annual gathering was an exclusive presentation of footage from the highly anticipated film Ramayana.
On the first day of the expo, attendees were shown a 15-minute preview that included visuals never before revealed to the public. Attendees were strictly instructed not to use mobile phones or record any part of the presentation.
An exhibitor who was present described the footage as featuring various creatures from the film, including a one-eyed daitya and a prominent bear-like character. The source expressed amazement at the vision, imagination, and visual effects on display, stating that Ramayana looks like a global Indian film with effects comparable to a big-scale Hollywood production such as The Lord of the Rings.
The presentation also functioned as a making-of feature, incorporating quotes from producer Namit Malhotra about his ambitious vision for the project. The session concluded with the film's official trailer, which has been available since July 30.
Ramayana stars Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, Sunny Deol, Sai Pallavi, Ravie Dubey, Rakul Preet Singh, and Lara Dutta. The first part of the period epic is scheduled for a Diwali 2026 release, with the sequel following on Diwali 2027.
