Ramayana's first song 'Jai Jai Ram' released on Ganesh Chaturthi
The first track from Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana, 'Jai Jai Ram', was released on Ganesh Chaturthi, composed by AR Rahman and written by Dr Kumar Vishwas.
The makers of Ramayana have unveiled the first song from the upcoming film, timed to Ganesh Chaturthi. Titled 'Jai Jai Ram', the track was shared on the movie's official Instagram handle, The World of Ramayana.
Composed by Oscar-winning musician AR Rahman, the song has been written by Dr Kumar Vishwas and sung by Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal. It draws on the structure of an aarti while carrying the emotional sweep of a cinematic number, with its lyrics centring on Shri Ram's compassion, protection and commitment to dharma. The repeated invocation of his name forms the devotional heart of the track.
Rahman said the aim was to retain the simplicity and closeness of a prayer. "At the heart of 'Jai Jai Ram' is the simple and powerful repetition of Shri Ram's name. Musically, the intention was to preserve the purity and intimacy of a prayer while allowing the composition to grow into a cinematic song," he said. He added that Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal each bring a distinct emotional quality to Dr Kumar Vishwas's words while staying true to the devotion at the song's centre, and expressed hope that listeners would find both peace and a personal connection in it.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman.
The film is produced by Namit Malhotra's Prime Focus Studios in association with the eight-time Academy Award-winning DNEG and Yash's Monster Mind Creations. Sony Pictures will distribute it globally outside India. Ramayana Part One is scheduled to reach cinemas this Diwali in 2026.
