Three Brothers Held for Killing Aunt in Ranipet Property Feud
Three brothers were arrested in Ranipet for allegedly killing their aunt during a dispute over family property and cash.
The Banavaram police, operating near Sholinghur town in Ranipet district, arrested three brothers on Thursday in connection with the death of their aunt. The accused have been identified as M. Netaji (25), M. Surya (23), and M. Arunachalam (27). The deceased is V. Uma, 44, who was the aunt of the three men.
Police investigations revealed that the incident stems from a long-running family dispute over land. T. Renu, a 70-year-old farmer from Arasankuppam village, had been living with his two sons, R. Munusamy (55) and R. Vinayakam (49). The brothers had previously quarrelled over the division of their father's ten acres of farmland, a matter that Renu had reportedly managed to pacify.
However, tensions flared again a few days ago when the family argued over the distribution of both the property and cash savings. During this confrontation, Munusamy's three sons allegedly attacked Vinayakam and his wife, Uma, who had been demanding an equal share of the assets.
Uma collapsed at the scene, while Vinayakam sustained serious injuries. Relatives rushed the couple to the Government Taluk Hospital, where doctors declared Uma dead on arrival. Vinayakam was subsequently referred to the Government Medical College Hospital for further treatment.
A case has been registered, and the three brothers were apprehended from a hideout within the village. They have been lodged at the Central Prison in Vellore as a detailed investigation continues.
