
Man arrested in Ranipet for killing mother over job demand
A 39-year-old man in Ranipet's Perumalrajpettai village was arrested for allegedly killing his mother after she asked him to seek employment.
A 39-year-old man has been arrested in Ranipet district on charges of killing his mother after she asked him to find work, police said.
The accused, K. Munusamy, a wage labourer, lived at Perumalrajpettai village near Arakkonam with his wife M. Meena, 27, their two children and his mother Dhanalakshmi, 60.
An initial inquiry found that Munusamy had been without employment for more than a year. To keep the household running, Dhanalakshmi and Meena had taken up agricultural and domestic work.
On Thursday around 11 a.m., an argument broke out between Munusamy and his mother after she urged him to find a job to meet the family's expenses. During the altercation, he allegedly struck her on the head with a wooden log.
Dhanalakshmi collapsed on the spot. Neighbours and relatives rushed her to the Government Taluk Hospital in Arakkonam, where doctors declared her brought dead.
The Arakkonam Taluk police registered a case and arrested Munusamy, who has been lodged at the Central Prison in Vellore. Further investigation is underway.
