Raveendran named Kerala Chalachitra Academy chairperson, Priyanka Nair vice-chairperson
Actor and festival curator Raveendran will head the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, with actor Priyanka Nair as vice-chairperson, as the state government reconstitutes the body's leadership.
The Kerala government has appointed actor and festival curator Raveendran as chairperson of the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, with actor Priyanka Nair named vice-chairperson.
Actor Salim Hassan and filmmaker Jofin T. Chacko will serve as members of the academy's executive committee.
The appointments, announced on Friday, come alongside a full reconstitution of the academy's executive committee and general council. The overhaul follows a delay of more than four months after the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) took charge of the state.
The newly constituted general council includes Deepu Karunakaran, Vaikom Vijayalekshmi, M.V. Gireesh Kumar, Salim Hassan, B. Rakesh, Sajeevan Anthikkad, Zakariya, R.S. Panicker, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Vazhoor Jose, A. Kabeer, Sabu Shankar, Sherga Sandeep and Abdul Hanan.
The leadership change follows the resignation of former chairperson Resul Pookutty and vice-chairperson Kukku Parameswaran in May, some weeks after the UDF government assumed office.
