Retired IAF officer assaulted with iron rod at Gurugram complex; FIR filed
Gurugram Police have registered an FIR after a retired Air Force officer was beaten with an iron rod by parking staff at a Sector 66 commercial complex.
A retired Indian Air Force officer was assaulted with an iron rod by parking staff at a commercial complex in Gurugram's Sector 66, police said on Monday, adding that a case has been registered in the matter.
The victim, identified as Amit Gupta, lives in Sector 61. According to Assistant Commissioner of Police (Headquarters) Abhilaksh Joshi, the attack took place on the evening of September 10 at Magnum Global Park and was carried out by members of the complex's parking staff.
Police received information about the incident on September 13, and an FIR was registered at Sector 65 Police Station the same day. Mr. Joshi said the victim initially indicated that he would record his detailed statement later, and it was this statement, recorded on September 13, that formed the basis of the case.
Preliminary investigation and the complaint suggest Mr. Gupta was struck with an iron rod. He sustained a fracture in his hand, the ACP said, adding that other injuries would be confirmed once the Medical Legal Case report is available.
CCTV footage from the area is being examined and further investigation is underway, police said.
