Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has escalated his political offensive against the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), announcing that the Congress party will hold public meetings in Sircilla and Siddipet in the coming weeks. These constituencies are represented by BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao and former minister T. Harish Rao, respectively.
Speaking at a public gathering in Nakrekal, Nalgonda district, after inaugurating a new 100-bed government hospital, Reddy asserted that the Congress would not permit the BRS to re-establish its political influence in the state. He issued a direct challenge, stating he would hoist the Congress flag in Sircilla by the end of the month and visit Siddipet the following month.
Reddy expressed confidence in his party's electoral prospects, claiming the Congress could win 117 assembly seats if the number of constituencies increases, or 90 seats if the current structure remains. He defended the state government's record, stating that schemes initiated by the previous BRS administration have not been discontinued but have been expanded to benefit more people, particularly farmers and women.
Addressing criticism from the opposition, Reddy highlighted the government's allocation of ₹11,000 crore for free travel on RTC buses, noting that one crore women currently use the service. He accused certain individuals of provoking auto drivers against the scheme out of political jealousy.
The Chief Minister also targeted former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, questioning his absence from the Assembly and demanding he either attend sessions or resign. Reddy pointed out that KCR received ₹22.40 crore in salary over 1,000 days without participating in legislative proceedings.
Responding to BRS leaders' remarks about his educational qualifications, Reddy stated that while he may not be highly educated, his conduct reflects strong cultural values. Earlier in the day, he inaugurated the ₹32 crore hospital and laid foundation stones for a Telangana Public School (₹9.85 crore) and a Young India Integrated Residential School at Kadaparthi village (₹200 crore).
