Revanth Reddy frames national contest as Gandhi Parivar vs Sangh Parivar
Telangana CM A. Revanth Reddy says the national political battle pits the Gandhi family against the Sangh Parivar, and predicts Kerala's political shift will spread.
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has characterised the country's political contest as a confrontation between the "Gandhi Parivar and Sangh Parivar", and predicted that the political shift witnessed in Kerala would extend across the nation.
Speaking in Nilambur, Kerala, on Friday after receiving the Aryadan Muhammed–2026 Best Public Servant Award, he accused the BJP and the Sangh Parivar of dividing the country on religious, caste, regional and linguistic lines.
He contrasted this with the Gandhi family, which he said stood for sacrifice. He recalled the assassinations of former Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi, and noted that Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi had forgone opportunities to hold positions of power. "History is calling. Rahul Gandhi has to become PM and save India from communal forces," he said.
The award commemorates former Kerala Minister Aryadan Muhammed, a veteran Congress leader who was elected as an MLA eight times. Mr. Revanth Reddy is the first person from outside Kerala to be selected for the honour, which was presented to him by Congress general secretary K.C. Venugopal.
The Chief Minister said his only remaining political ambition was to see Rahul Gandhi become Prime Minister. "I have no personal ambition. In 20 years, I have seen everything — ZPTC, MLC, MLA, MP, PCC president and Chief Minister. My only dream left is to make Rahul Gandhi the Prime Minister of India," he said.
He also levelled allegations of "vote ki chori, party ki chori, symbol ki chori and funds ki chori" at the BJP, arguing that the future of the youth and the foundations of democracy were at stake.
Drawing a link between electoral shifts in Kerala and political developments at the Centre, he referred to earlier Congress victories in the State and said the political wind from Kerala had begun to blow again. He also recalled his association with Kerala during Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra and the Assembly election campaign.
