Revanth Reddy Casts Political Battle as Gandhi Parivar vs Sangh Parivar
Telangana CM Revanth Reddy framed India's political contest as Gandhi Parivar versus Sangh Parivar and said his sole dream is to make Rahul Gandhi PM, drawing a sharp BJP response.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Friday framed the contest over India's political direction as a clash between the "Gandhi Parivar" and the "Sangh Parivar", and said his sole remaining ambition in public life is to see Congress leader Rahul Gandhi become prime minister.
Reddy was speaking in Nilambur, Kerala, after receiving the Aryadan Muhammed–Best Public Servant Award 2026.
He said the Gandhi family stood for sacrifice, citing Mahatma Gandhi, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi as leaders who gave up their lives for the country, and said Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi had given up post, power and position. The Sangh Parivar, he alleged, was dividing the country along religious, caste, regional and linguistic lines.
"The fight for India is between two parivars," he said, urging people to unite behind the Gandhi family to protect democracy, secularism and freedom.
Reddy said that after two decades in public life he had no personal political ambition left, adding that his only dream was to make Rahul Gandhi prime minister. He predicted a Congress-led government at the Centre.
The chief minister also alleged irregularities in the electoral and political process, using the phrase "vote ki chori, party ki chori, symbol ki chori, funds ki chori". He said the future of young people and the integrity of the vote were being stolen, calling it an attack on the foundation of democracy.
Describing Kerala as a bellwether state, Reddy said a "Congress hawa" had begun there and asked party workers to turn it into a nationwide "tsunami".
His remarks drew a sharp response from BJP MP and Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar, who said the contrast was between the BJP's "Nation First" approach and what he described as the Congress's "Family First" outlook. In a post on X, Sanjay said no political family could be bigger than the country and no surname could demand the nation's sacrifice.
He also quoted an RSS prayer line, "Mahamangale punyabhume tvadarthe, patatvesha kayo", describing it as the organisation's commitment to the nation.
