Telangana CM Revanth Reddy calls for protests seeking KCR's resignation as LoP

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has called on Congress workers and the public to hold protests demanding that BRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) resign as Leader of the Opposition. The demand stems from KCR's prolonged absence from the Assembly and his withdrawal from public life.

Speaking at a public meeting after inaugurating a high-level bridge at Musarambagh, Reddy proposed six days of dharnas starting Tuesday, culminating in a major protest at Indira Park on September 6. The Assembly session is scheduled to begin the following day, September 7.

Reddy challenged KCR to a debate comparing the performance of his government against the BRS's tenure. "Is there any other Opposition leader in the country who has stayed out of the public eye for 1,000 days?" he asked, accusing the BRS of failing in its role as the principal Opposition.

The Chief Minister claimed that KCR drew ₹1.24 crore in salary during this period, while the government spent approximately ₹22 crore on his security and facilities. He drew a parallel with government employees, noting that a year of absence typically leads to dismissal.

Reddy also accused KCR of using political power to promote family members, contrasting this with his government's focus on representation across social groups. He highlighted welfare measures, including ration cards and six kilograms of fine-quality rice for 3.48 crore people, construction of seven lakh Indiramma houses, and 72,000 jobs filled in 1,000 days.

He further cited the completion of Scheduled Caste categorisation, the BC caste census, and new policies for gig workers, sports, IT, tourism, and endowments as achievements of his government.
