Prime Video shelves 'Ride or Die' after a single season

Prime Video has decided against a second season of Ride or Die, bringing the buddy dramedy to a close after a single outing.

The series, headlined by Hannah Waddingham and Octavia Spencer, arrived on the platform in July. News of the two actors teaming up for the project first surfaced in December 2023.

According to the show's official logline, Ride or Die centres on best friends Debbie Claybourne (Spencer) and Judith Burton (Waddingham), who believed they knew everything about one another — until Judith is revealed to be an international assassin. When a figure from her past resurfaces and a hit goes badly awry, the pair are compelled to flee together, embarking on a road trip across Europe while evading law enforcement, skilled assassins and dangerous criminals.

Alongside the leads, the cast featured Ed Skrein, Calam Lynch, Savannah Steyn, Jamie Parker and Jacky Ido, with Sylvia Hoeks and Bill Nighy in prominent parts.

Tessa Coates created the series and served as executive producer and showrunner, working alongside Matt Miller and director Peyton Reed. The show was produced by Paramount Television Studios and Amazon MGM Studios, together with Andy and Barbara Muschietti's Double Dream and Octavia Spencer's Orit Entertainment.
