RMS CET 2026 Registration Opens: Entrance Exam Set for December 13

The National Testing Agency has opened registrations for the Rashtriya Military School Common Entrance Examination (RMS CET) 2026, which will be held on December 13. The test is the gateway to admission in Classes 6 and 9 at Rashtriya Military Schools for the academic year 2027-28.

Candidates can apply online from September 23 to October 20, with the window closing at 5 pm on the final day. Applications are to be submitted through the portal at exams.nta.nic.in/rmscet.

Rashtriya Military Schools are English-medium residential public schools run by the Ministry of Defence. They provide education to the wards of defence personnel as well as civilians, covering Classes 6 to 12. There are five such schools: Chail in Himachal Pradesh, Ajmer and Dholpur in Rajasthan, and Belgaum and Bengaluru in Karnataka.

For the 2027-28 academic year, the entrance examination will be conducted as a pen-and-paper test comprising multiple-choice questions.

Eligibility

Applicants for Class 6 must be between 10 and 13 years of age as on March 31, 2027, meaning they should have been born between April 1, 2014 and March 31, 2027. Those seeking admission to Class 11 should be between 13 and 16 years old as on the same date, with birth dates falling between April 1, 2011 and March 31, 2024.

Examination Fee

Candidates from the General, OBC and OBC (NCL) categories must pay a fee of Rs 1,000. For Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and wards of Armed Forces personnel killed in action, the fee is Rs 750.

A late fee of Rs 500 applies to all forms submitted after October 20. The submission portal will remain open with the late fee from October 21 to 25.
